framework general (shill or hate)

i got a framework 12 a few days ago and have been loving it. my old laptop broke and it was a glued together pos that i got on sale. i'm rough on laptops and the idea of something i can fix and easily find replacement parts is really nice. the only issue i have is i wish the battery was bigger but it's worth it considering the pros

framework laptops seem to be 600$+, i dont go to laptops for performance so i could never justify to myself spending that kind of money. I bought a dell precision m4700 for 80$ i got a thinkpad t420 for less. both are repairable. framework laptops are considered repairable cause new laptops are built like shit. i guess buy a 2010s business laptop from a major oem (Dell, HP, Lenovo) if you dont wanna throw down 100$+ dollars on a laptop.

That's completely understandable, I probably would've gone down that route if I didn't have a bunch of specific boxes to check

The concept of a framework is nice but its still too expensive to reasonably support at the moment, even for the light PC use variants. I like their vision so I hope they can stay afloat as a PC manufacturer though

my next laptop will probably be a framework, but I will still putter around with my ancient and beat up MacBook Air (replaced the SSD after it failed, and I've replaced the battery thrice now) because I don't need a laptop these days vs when I bought the thing (it is showing its age now though)
most of my work is on my desktop now

ok. so framework seems fine i guess. but i dunno why it is getting much more hype than the nearly identical in concept, reform (system76) laptops?

that's mnt reform (or system76 for that matter)
i didn't type what i was intending. they are different similar "open" projects (higher repairability, documentation, more standardized parts, etc). framework seems to be higher in user friendliness than either, but also more restricting. maybe because it's easier to understand and thinner than mnt reform it's more popular than that (also price i guess may be a factor but framework isn't cheap for what it is either) but the system76 ones seem fairly accessable to normal people? idk. the movment of the zeitgeist is mysterious
