Which theme do you guys like more, dark or light? Do you think denpa chan should have a dark mode?

Light because I don't like the feeling of the back-light straining to squeeze itself through the blackness.

dark because oled means it uses less power

most dark themes aren't dark enough. pitch black backgrounds are the best.

i use dark mode on everything bc light mode's so bright it hurt my eyes- even when my laptop's brightness is as low as it can go. this site's background color is good though, i've never had a problem with it.

light mode almost always
kinda annoyed at the increasing unpopularity of light modes...

dark because light fatigues my eyes faster so I can't look at the computer that long. Although pitch black gives the same problem, I think it's mostly the saturation. Light mode/grey that has low saturation is actually alright, but bright white is way too much.

Dark theme would be nice, although I like the current theme too

I've been a dark theme user for years, but I recently tried switching my terminal to a light theme and it feels much clearer to read. However, I find it a bit too bright for a longer session.

could the success of dark mode stem from people using screens too close to their eyes?

median gray

light gray background #f0f0f0
dark text
best combo

I prefer gray. I think Denpa-chan is good. It could be grayer.
When in night I just dim the light of my LED, naito modo.

either or is fine, but i cant use my pc without enabling the nightlight feature 24/7 (stronger during the night). white backgrounds strain the shit out of my eyes without it.

Dark themes are the safer option. They work on all kinds of designs and can make a simple design look better than it actually is. A full on black theme is worse than a bright white one though. A light theme works only if the interface has otherwise an artistically sound design.

I always have to dim the lightlevel down to 3000K, 24/7. Also Dark Reader ftw.

Also Dark Reader ftw.
Sounds cool. Going to try that one out.

Dark themes make text seem small

No they don't?

Light mode is better, specifically a dusk or cream theme - even if dark mode FEELS better it's actually better on the eyes to read dark text on a light background, my personal preference though is light mode more aesthetically pleasing

Obviously dark-mode. It always looks better. And anyone who disagrees is raising crimson red-flags
22 Name: Anonymous 2025-07-28 17:19
as long as the dark mode looks like a unix terminal from the early 90s
23 Name: Anonymous 2025-07-29 11:05
light mode has always been rough on my eyes. so much so i have my browser set to force every website to be black with white text. denpa-chan looks really nice like this.
