i believe denpa culture is exceptionally comfy. i am not sure exactly what i mean when i say this, though i believe it has much to do with not worrying so much about things that are important to the normie e.g work & expectations of others.

Comfy is making 30 width infantry divisions and putting one on each tile with lvl 5 forts and having the AI throw itself at you for 3 years in hopeless green bubble(for you) attacks because it has a core on Memel and it wants to take it.

Personally, I can't say I 'identify' with the 'Denpa' label at all. I think I'd call myself a 'subscriber to a myriad of channels who have all used the word denpa before' and a user of a textboard pertaining to these YouTubers and the (mostly NEET and otaku) culture surrounding them.

My 'YouTube upbringing' has simply been completely different. I hadn't seen a single Digibro video and only knew them as Trixie prior to hearing OsakaSyndrome talk about the old videos they made; I've never been much of a proponent or fan of the 'lofi-vlog,' since every channel I discovered before denpatubers who made videos under that label pissed me off with their complete and total insincerity. At least with Osakasyndrome you get a wink and nod to the camera about the degree of insincerity displayed and he's acknowledged his own prior fabrication, outright admitting to embellishing stories in videos. I can appreciate that. What I do not appreciate are the hundreds of archetypal vlog channels popping up left and right discussing the exact same surface-level 'life sucks' topics over and over again. They're all too fucking neurotypical and they all say the same things.

It's either that, or they're trying to be Dan Hentschel and failing miserably, because nobody else could do Dan Hentschel except for fucking Dan Hentschel. The core Denpatubers I enjoy, though they can be derivative and wear their insomnia analysis inspiration on their sleeves, at least have their own personalities. I have a portable window AC unit that's pretty loud along with a fan going 24/7. I feel the same way. At night I play rain sounds from my TV on the other side of the room and my phone near my bed, otherwise it takes longer to fall asleep.

I also love harsh noise. Maybe you and I just have the autism for it.

The cessation of discomfort not through positive comfyism but simply becoming acclimatized to discomfy. Instead of putting on a blanket perhaps even taking a layer off and simply accepting the cold. And then when you put the layer back on the base level of comfiness feels as comfy if not comfier than the blanket, plus you're not as dependent on externalities which is comfy because I am afraid of becoming attached to things. Less is more and worse is better. I guess what I'm trying to say is Unix is comfy.

Listening to people brave enough to share their mundane but at the same time interesting lives is itself comfy to me. Its a corner of the internet that seems happily to build small pockets of community and be accepted for varying values and opinions, whole also accepting the duality of self improvement while also feeling a need to fill the void. Comfy examples of void fillijg are video games, watching anime, eating fast food or well cooked home food, enjoying the lack of authoritory to a boss who only knows their own kind and accepts hurting others to afford a Merc on the driveway. Yes I am annoyed at that. But no I am actually comfy enough to not care sometimes. Anyway, I am scared at some of the posted comments since I ladt visited so Im going to hide in my sheets and eat cookies until the scary persons leave

For me it's doing things at your own pace in your own space, being able to create things you're proud of, sustain yourself doing what feels authentic to you and feeling like you have a sense of community amongst people on a similar wavelength. I'm quite nihilistic - but if I've got to be here and gas myself up into seeing a meaning in things, this is where I want to be and what I want to do.

Also, cool to see there are other people on here into harsh noise/noise music. One of my dreams is to see Merzbow live. My tism and ADHD likes Pulse Demon - feels like a power-washer for the brain. Boris is cool too - especially Flood, one of the best songs ever to stare at your ceiling or zone out on a long journey to, just requires a bit of patience.
